Microhardness and metallographic test are performed daily in our laboratory to analyze the quality of raw materials and the effectiveness of treatments on the chains.
Microhardness test
The chain links are cut and embedded in a particular resin. Using an electronic microdurometer we make a test every tenth of a millimeter of depth, starting from the outer surface of the link and moving towards the core. This will verify that the values of surface hardness, core hardness and hardening depth are within the strict internal parameters as well as the homologation requests, condition that ensures long life of the chain..
Metallographic test
With the use of sophisticated microscopes, the steel structures is enlarged up to 1000 times. In this way we can recognize the various structures of the steel as a result of heat treatment and to identify possible defects in the starting raw material.
