Company Certifications
Quality is the most important aspect for Thule. For this reason, our factory has had a certified quality-assurance system that adheres to ISO 9001 in place since 1999. In November 2011 Thule spa has obtained the prestigious certification ISO 14001.
The certification helps us continuously improve our process and products, and guarantees elevated standards for our snow chains.- ISO 9001
TÜV is the international certification body that annually verifies our quality system (ISO 9001) and audits all our processes. TÜV also verifies our products (they do a simultaneous audit for product and system).
TÜV and Ö-Norm are the certification bodies that perform the homologation tests for our new products to verify our snow chains’ adherence to the international standard.
- ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is a world renown norm which guarantees the respect of the current environmental laws and regulations. Furthermore, and even more important, the ISO 14001 norm aims to the continous improvement and to the reduction of the environmetal impact of the company.
Thule is ISO 14001 certified since November 2011.
Snow chain certifications
Thule demonstrates that each snow chain with product certification adheres to the international standard. In order to verify the quality of our snow chains, an independent certification body (TÜV) performs extensive laboratory and field testing with cars on ice and snow.
These tests confirm the highest level of quality for König snow chains.
- CUNA
Product marking which certifies conformity with the Italian standard (CUNA NC 178- 01). This standard, which is exclusively applied to snow chains for car tyres, was approved by the Ministry for Infrastructures and Transportation with a decree on 13 March 2002. The certification provides additional confirmation of the quality of König products. Conformity of König products to the standard (CUNA NC 178-01) was certified by the “TÜV product service” certification body.
- Ö-Norm 5117
Mark shown on a type–tested product that demonstrates conformity of the product to the Austrian standard (Ö-Norm V 5117) for car snow chains. As early as 1995, Thule wanted its products to be type-tested according to this standard, which is based on very rigid parameters that must be passed.
- Ö-Norm 5119
Mark shown on a product that conforms to a very strict Austrian standard (Ö-Norm V 5119). It is also used by “TÜV product service” for snow chains on vehicles such as trucks, buses and medium weight trucks. As early as 1995, Thule wanted its products in this segment to meet the requirements of the standard in order to confirm their quality and meet the needs of increasingly demanding customers.
